Core Player
The digital playback process is at the heart of Audirvāna’s proprietary technology. It prioritizes the music on your computer by minimizing processor activity during playback and always following the shortest possible software path to the audio output.
Continuous improvements over the last 10 years ensure the best digital audio playback performance from a computer on both Mac and PC (with the new KERNEL STREAMING mode) and native compatibility with Apple Silicon and windows 11.
Exclusive DAC access
- Direct
and exclusive access to the audio device (DAC)
- Bypass
the audio mixer to avoid unwanted format alterations
The perfect beat. Leave nothing between
you and the music.
Usually, computer audio playback consists of a sequence of independent tasks. After reception and decoding, the signal passes through an audio “mixer” that combines sounds from different apps. This mixer modifies the resolution of the audio samples according to a “lowest common denominator” rule and uses a low-power algorithm to avoid additional latency, which adds quantization artifacts in addition to quality loss.
Audirvāna transmits intact data to the audio device (bit-perfect) following the shortest possible path. To do this it has direct and exclusive access to the device that bypasses the internal audio mixer, thus avoiding sound events from other apps and unwanted alterations to the audio format of your music.
The implementation differs between the operating systems: on Mac, an integer calculation (non-floating) must be imposed to neutralize the mixer, on Windows, the format is respected as soon as you have exclusive access under WASAPI or KERNEL.
Upstream Processing
- Extended
buffering
- Mobilization
of the processor before playback for decoding and processing
- Converter
operation optimized by sending a ‘ready-to-play’ digital audio stream
Restlessness gives way to silence.
Audirvāna loads, decodes and processes the entire audio data of a track prior to playback in a buffer memory.
This limits processor activity during playback and protects the music from playback jitter and possible signal interference by stabilizing the computer power supply and limiting processor activity to the bare minimum: less than 0.5% of CPU load.
In addition, Audirvāna delivers a ‘ready-to-play’ digital audio stream that allows your converter to operate under optimal conditions, i.e. a PCM (or DSD) stream already decoded, which takes into account the characteristics of your DAC – for the order of reception of data beyond 16bits for example – and reduces the tasks to be performed at its level. With quality as sole priority, Audirvāna does not have to seek a compromise between processing speed and accuracy and can thus mobilize the computer’s computing power using the best algorithms.
Today, most DACs operate at very high internal frequencies and low resolution. This conversion involves oversampling. Benefiting from the processing power of your computer, much higher than the internal capacity of the DAC, Audirvāna can run more sophisticated and demanding oversampling algorithms, and feed your DAC with a signal containing more accurate data that facilitates the interpolation work.
Kernel level programming
- Playback
engine written in the most direct language allowed for each operating system
- Compilation
optimized for each type of processor including the new Apple Silicon generation
- Operation
with several drivers under Windows 10 including now the KERNEL STREAMING mode offering unrivaled transparency
The shortest possible path.
In addition to having exclusive access, Audirvāna’s reading program communicates at the lowest possible level allowed by each operating system, thus reducing the number of operations performed to a strict minimum.
For MacOS, Audirvāna is constantly adapted to the evolution of the operating system and is also already natively compatible with the latest generation of computers equipped with the new Apple Silicon processors.
For Windows10, in addition to using the drivers already available (WASAPI, ASIO) Audirvāna now integrates the KERNEL STREAMING mode for an absolute transparency.

System Optimizer
- Management
of the priority level given to Audirvāna on processor access
- Integration
of SysOptimizer under MacOS for adjustment directly in the settings
- Equivalent
possibility under Windows10 with third party applications such as Fidelizer
Give your music the level of priority it deserves.
Under MacOS, Audirvāna allows you to optimize the quality and playback speed by managing the priority level given to the app over processor access.
The SysOptimizer tool is directly accessible and configurable in the audio settings.
You can also do it under Windows 10, but outside the application, using a third-party tool like Fidelizer for example.
